·         Canoing & Kayaking - Wilderness Trails (802-295-2760) in Quechee provides both, guided and independent, on local Dewey’s pond or the Connecticut River; boat rentals available at Silver Lake State Park in Barnard (802-234-9451)

 

 

·         Hiking and walking – see “Walk Woodstock!” Trail map with suggested walks around Mt. Tom & Mt. Peg;

The Marsh-Billings- Rockefeller National Historical Park in Woodstock offers guided hikes

 

 

·         Golf   -    Hanover Country Club (603-646-2000) semi-privat – 40 min – Rte 4 east, on to I-89 South, on to 91 

                    North, exit Hanover/Norwich, turn right at the ramp, pass the Connecticut river, go straight until  

                      North Park street on your left, turn left here and follow to the light where you turn right on to Lyme

                      Road, club on left side

-          Carter Country Club Lebanon (603-448-4483), 25 min – Rte 4 East on to I-89 South, exit # 19, you  

      are on Mechanic St, golf club on your right

-     Woodstock Inn Country Club (802-457-6674), 5 min - Rte 106, on left side

-          Windsor Country Club (802-674-6491), 25 min – Rt4 East turn right on to Rte 12, at Hartland 3 

      Corners (Hartland village) turn right at the stop sign on to Rte 5 South; pass I-91 and go straight;   

      after 5min see Golf club sign on left side.

     ·             Biking – Many scenic routes are in close proximity to Woodstock’s green; bike and helmet rentals are available at the sporting good

              “Starthouse” at 28 Central street, Woodstock center,

 

 

·         Killington – Hiking, Horseback riding, mountain biking, and more – see www.Killington.com

 

·         Montshire Museum unlimited fun for children 4 –13; Hanover, VT (~ 35 min)–  Rte 4 East, I-89 South on right side, turn right on to ramp to I-91North, exit Norwich, take a right turn and immediately another right turn and follow the signs. “Hands on” on alllearn facilities . In summer you can bring your cooler, sit in the shadow and have some lunch; your children will enjoy the “water games” outside,  - bring your beach cloths for the children. The 2-story museum has also for adults a few sections you can learn a lot: a bee colony, an ant colony, a medical education center, a wind center, an audio center and much more. A lot of trails are available more for hiking than education. No Food or Drinks available! Admission. If you plan in advance a lot of programs are available, especially for children. See video

·         Green Mountain Horse association (GMHA) – 16 min – Rte 106 South to S Woodstock, leave the village on Rte 106, you will see it on the left side - visit as a spectator dressage competitions, driving competition and much more. ·        Tennis – ( 4min) Woodstock Inn and Resort – Rte 106 after the Country Club on the left side (Swim-, Gym and Racket Center) 800- 448-7900

 

·         Swimming

o        Silver Lake State Park in Barnard (17 min, follow Route 12 to Barnard, at General Store go straight, sign on the left) facilities, beach, barbecue opportunity, canoeing and more, small fee.

o        Upper Valley Aquatic center in Lebanon (25 min, Rte 4 East, I-89 South on the left side, turn right on to ramp to I-91North, on I-91 exit immediately next exit, go on to Rte 5 South, see sign) especially fun for children!!! Be aware that the children won’t leave….

o        Woodstock Inn and Resort – 4 min - Rte 106 after the Country Club on the left side (Swim-, Gym and Racket Center) 800- 448-7900, Indoor Pool, year round, admission.
